The University of Nebraska Medical Center is conducting a search for the next Chief of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep & Allergy. This is an outstanding opportunity to build on the division’s existing foundation of world class research, excellent education and outstanding clinical care programs. 

The division has 28 active faculty members, with a budget of almost $16M. Research funding from the NIH, VA and other sources total more than $1.5M and the division faculty published 31 articles in the last calendar year. Both undergraduate and graduate education play a vital role and a robust fellowship program integrates a strong clinical program with a productive research opportunity. 

The Chief reports to the Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine, Debra Romberger, MD, and will lead the Division with the responsibility for teaching, research, and clinical service as well as academic planning, development, and resource management. The successful candidate will have an MD degree (or equivalent) and Board Certification in Internal Medicine with the appropriate pulmonary subspecialty certification and/or training. The candidate will currently hold the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, with experience in leadership and management in an academic setting. He/she will possess outstanding clinical and teaching skills, have the ability to foster research, and share a commitment to service, excellence and diversity.
