Advanced Lung Transplant Fellowship Position
The University of Florida

Gainesville, FL

We are currently accepting applications for our 1-year advanced Lung Transplant fellowship that would begin July 2019. The UF Lung Transplant program continues to grow in volume and provide excellent patient outcomes. We are the busiest and largest program in the state of Florida and a leading program in the South East USA. We average approximately 60 transplants per year and have over 20 years of combined transplant experience between our transplant pulmonologists. This fellowship opportunity was started in 2017. We have had two fellows go through this training in the last 2 years. We are reviewing applications currently for July 2019. The fellow will work under the direct supervision and guidance of 5 full time lung transplant pulmonologists and two dedicated transplant surgeons. The fellow will have the unique experience of participating in outpatient evaluation of referrals of end-stage lung disease patients from Florida and other neighboring states. The fellow will be involved in the care of these patients in the state-of-the-art lung transplant ICU in the pre-transplant and in the immediate post-transplant period. The lung transplant team provides care of all adult VV ECMO patients. Fellow will also receive training in surveillance bronchoscopies, donor call management, assist procurement of DCD donors, post-transplant care of patients on the floor and in the post-transplant clinics. Thus, our fellows are exposed to a very comprehensive clinical training in lung transplantation. Our goals and objectives of the program are to train an exemplary UNOS certified lung transplant pulmonologist per year and foster/enhance research activity and innovative contribution in the field of lung transplantation. The applicant should be board certified in Internal Medicine and should have completed 3 years of training in PCCM by July 2019. We welcome J1 visa holders.

Interested applicants should contact Satish Chandrashekaran MD at ([email protected]) with an updated CV, 3 letters of
recommendation, and a letter from PCCM program director.
