Call for Nominations 

NOMINATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 21, 2019

The Association of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Program Directors (APCCMPD) is now accepting nominations for the volunteer position of Fellow-in-Training.

The Board of Directors (BOD) is comprised of 5 voting members; the President, the President-Elect, the Vice-President, the Immediate Past President, the Secretary-Treasurer, and one non-voting member, the Fellow-in-Training. Each BOD member becomes a member of the Board by virtue of being elected.

The term of the Fellow-in-Training shall be 2-years, and is not eligible for reappointment.   


Eligibility Criteria for the Position of Fellow-in-Training
  • Applicants must be nominated by their Program Director who maintains a regular (Program Director) member status. 
  • Applicants should be willing to spend up to 3 hours per month participating in BOD work.
  • Applicants should demonstrate commitment to the goals of the APCCMPD and interest in defining and supporting the education and training of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine Program Directors and Fellows.
  • Applicants should be a 1st-year Fellow in a 3-year program, or 1st- or 2nd-year Fellow in a 4-year program. This assures the Fellow can serve a 2-year term.
  • It is preferable if applicants:
    • have been a Fellow-in-Training of a fellowship program that has maintained APCCMPD membership for at least one year; and have regularly attended APCCMPD in-person meetings and educational conferences. 

Required Nomination Material for the Position of Fellow-in-Training

  • Up-to-date CV
  • Completed Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form (view APCCMPD Leadership COI Policy)
  • Statement of Commitment and Purpose including:
    • Commitment to the goals of the APCCMPD and interest in defining and supporting the education and training of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine Program Directors and Fellows.
    • Statement of willingness to participate in all face-to-face meetings and educational conferences each year and spend up to 3 hours/month on executive committee work
    • Statement of Vision for the Future of the APCCMPD as Fellow-in-Training.
  • Letter of Support from the Training Program Director

Nomination Process

1. Call for Nominations

  • In the fall of each election year a call for the Fellow-in-Training Nominations will be sent to all active members of the APCCMPD.
  • Program Director members of the APCCMPD may nominate a candidate for the position of Fellow-in-Training on the BOD. APCCMPD Program Director members who wish to nominate a Fellow for this position should first obtain the approval of the prospective nominee. 

 

2. Development of Candidate Slate for Member Voting

  • The Nomination Committee, comprised of the APCCMPD BOD and Past Presidents, will review all nominees. 
  • The Nomination Committee will develop a ranked ballot of one or more candidate(s) to present to the membership for member vote.

 

3. Member Voting

  • The ballot for member voting will be sent to all APCCMPD Program Director members, via blast E-mail.
    • The candidate’s nomination packet will also be available to the membership as an attachment to the blast E-mail.
    • The Fellow-in-Training will be chosen by a simple majority and officially elected at the Spring APCCMPD Member Meeting, held in conjunction with ATS.
