APCCMPD Fellows' Workgroup Call for Nominations

NOMINATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 8, 2020

The Association of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Program Directors (APCCMPD) is now accepting nominations for volunteer positions on the Fellows' Workgroup.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide a unique fellows' perspective to the APCCMPD Board of Directors (BOD)
  • Develop and recommend to the BOD the annual fellowship survey for circulation to P/CCM fellowship programs
  • Develop and recommend to the BOD medical education-related content on behalf of the APCCMPD at both CHEST and ATS
  • Advance the field of medical education and fellowship training by disseminating survey results at the APCCMPD Annual Conference and Bi-annual member meetings held in conjunction with ATS and CHEST as approved by the BOD.

Composition

The Fellow’s Workgroup, when fully constituted, shall have up to 13 members. Each member shall be an active Fellow of an APCCMPD member program with an interest in medical education. 

Chair: The Fellow-in-Training (FIT) on the APCCMPD BOD shall Chair the Fellow’s Workgroup. The Chair shall serve a two-year term concurrent with their position as Fellow-in-Training (FIT) on the APCCMPD BOD


Term

Fellows' Workgroup members shall serve up to two 1-year terms. The term will commence in July, following the start of the new Fellow-in-Training (FIT) on the APCCMPD BOD term.

The Chair of the Fellows' Workgroup will make a recommendation to the BOD on the reappointment of Workgroup members for a 2nd term. Recommendation to reappoint a member for their 2nd term will be contingent upon participation in year 1.

Attendance and Participation Policy

The Fellows' Workgroup will convene by conference call on an Ad Hoc basis, in proximity to the important dates identified. Workgroup members are expected to participate in 2/3 of all the calls and meetings. Workgroup members are also expected to participate in all preparatory work associated with projects the Fellows' Workgroup is engaged in.

Call for Nominations for Open Positions 

  • When there are open positions on the Fellows' Workgroup a Call for Nominations will occur in the fall of each year. A call for Fellows' Workgroup Nominations will be sent to all Program Director members of the APCCMPD.
  • This Call for Nominations will be sent via blast e-mail to the membership, posted on the APCCMPD Web-site, and announced at the APCCMPD Member Meeting held in conjunction with CHEST.
  • Program Director members of the APCCMPD may nominate a candidate for the position of Fellows' Workgroup member.                            
  • APCCMPD Program Director members who wish to nominate a Fellow for this Workgroup should first obtain the approval of the prospective nominee.
  • All candidates should be in their 2nd- or 3rd-year of fellowship so that they can complete at least one 1-year term. The APCCMPD BOD will review each nomination and select nominees to fill the vacant seats

Required Nomination Material for Fellows' Workgroup

  • Up-to-date CV
  • Completed Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form (view APCCMPD Leadership COI Policy)
  • Statement of Commitment and Purpose including:
    • Commitment to the goals of the APCCMPD and interest in defining and supporting the education and training of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine Program Directors and Fellows.
    • Statement of willingness to participate in Fellows' Workgroup projects, similar to those specified above, and to spend an average of 1-hour/month on Workgroup work and calls.
  • Letter of Support from the Program Director that specifies the Fellow will be given time to participate on the Fellows' Workgroup.
  • Date of Fellowship Completion: All candidates should be in their 2nd- or 3rd-year of fellowship so that they can complete at least one 1-year term.
