Innovative Fellowship Program Administration Award

This award recognizes outstanding contributions to fellowship program administration through the development of novel best practices in pulmonary, critical care, or pulmonary critical care medicine fellowship programs.  Program Administrators, Program Coordinators, Program Managers and equivalent roles are encouraged to submit an abstract describing the implementation of a successful effort or program, applied to the administrative operations of the fellowship program. Suggested areas of focus include, but are not limited to:

  • New Fellow Recruitment
  • Quality Improvement / Patient Safety
  • Fellow and/or Faculty Wellness
  • Site Visit Preparation
  • Program Coordinators Leadership and Development
  • Fellow and/or Faculty Evaluations
  • Administration of the Clinical Competency Committee
  • Program Evaluations
  • Duty Hour Monitoring
  • Other efforts that addressed unique issues of the fellowship program

Award Recognition

The APCCMPD values all contribution to Medical Education and would like to provide ways for Program Administrators and Coordinators to further enhance their CVs.  

Awardees will receive complementary conference registration and have the opportunity to present their abstract at the 2020 Annual APCCMPD Conference, during the Program Coordinator Workshop.  All authors and their abstracts, regardless of award status, will be honored in the APCCMPD Annual Awards Booklet.  Presentations of the abstract will satisfy TAGME requirements for initial certification and maintenance of certification.

Abstract Submission Requirements

The online abstract submission form will require the following for completion:

  • Names, email address, academic title and institution of each contributing author.
  • A .JPG color photograph of each author (head and shoulders).  Submitted headshots will not be shared with the Abstract Review Committee.  Headshots will be used in the 2020 APCCMPD Awards Program.
  • Confirmation that, if selected, the awardee will attend the 2020 APCCMPD Annual Conference on March 11-13 in Fort Lauderdale Beach, FL.

Application Guidelines

There will be two winning abstracts chosen. Session times should allow for a 20 presentation inclusive of a brief Q/A period. These sessions provide a forum for sharing innovations, lessons learned, and new approaches.  

The APCCMPD Program Coordinator’s Working Group strives to provide sessions that educate and inspire the audience on best practices and innovative thinking. Presentation selections will be made based upon desired topics, flow of content, educational value and understanding of the content.

Eligibility and Review Criteria

All abstracts will be anonymized prior to the Abstract Award Committee reviewing the submitted abstracts. All abstracts will be graded on the quality of the abstract submission and the innovation and novelty of the successful effort or program presented in the abstract.  A recipient of the abstract award will be: a Program Administrator, Program Coordinator, Program Manager or equivalent within a APCCMPD member Fellowship Program.
