Portland VA Medical Center: Sleep Medicine Physician and Director, Sleep Disorders Center
The Portland Oregon Veterans Affairs Medical Center is recruiting two full-time academic sleep medicine physicians to the Section of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine.
A candidate with appropriate administrative accomplishments will be considered for a leadership position as Director of the Sleep Medicine Program. Such a candidate will bring management experience to one of the largest Sleep Medicine programs in the Western US to address changing clinical models for the provision of sleep services. One position will have major responsibilities in our Rural Medicine initiative; we seek a sleep physician to develop Telemedicine sleep opportunities including effective outreach to rural areas.
The candidate must be board certified or board eligible in Sleep Medicine in addition to holding primary certification in Internal Medicine, Neurology, Pulmonary Diseases, or Psychiatry. We will consider other primary certifications on an individual basis. Training in basic science, clinical or health services research and/or a record of academic productivity as a Clinician-Scientist or Clinician-Educator is preferred. The Portland VAMC is affiliated with Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU); as such, this position offers substantial research opportunities. The successful candidate will receive academic appointment at OHSU, as qualified.
Clinical responsibilities of these positions are primarily in sleep medicine, including a major role in providing direct patient care within the 7-bed PVAMC Sleep Disorders Center. The incumbent will be expected to provide supervision of sleep fellows, residents and medical students from Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in the direct care of patients with sleep disorders. Candidates will have the option to perform some of their clinical duties in their area of primary certification.
