2011 Pulmonary and Critical Care In-service Exam and Critical Care In-Service Exam

Goals Statement
This is a computer-based examination that will be offered once yearly and has been constructed to assess knowledge in the fields of pulmonary and critical care medicine. It was developed to provide trainees in pulmonary and critical care medicine fellowship programs feedback regarding their individual knowledge base as they progress through their training. It was also developed to provide feedback for training program directors about the training program curricula. The examination has been developed as a "low stakes" examination and is not intended to be used as a basis for promotion during or graduation from the program.

Other Important Information:
This is a proctored exam, therefore programs should arrange a location where all exam takers can take the exam together (or in groups) under the supervision of a proctor. Information on how to administer the exam will be provided to programs that register in the coming weeks.  Every effort should be made to:

  • Ensure test takers do not bring testing aides with them including text books, pocket manuals, notes, mobile phones, pagers, and equipment that will capture digital images.
  • Ensure test takers do not communicate with one another during the administration
  • If the program plans to have incoming residents take the Pulmonary Critical Care In-Service Exam, please pre-arrange logistics at their current schools for them to take the exam under the supervision of a proctor.

Due to the time sensitivity to score each exam and distribute the scores we will be unable to offer any extensions to take the exam.  No refunds or credits will be offered for registered fellows unable to take the exam.
